How much does the data cost?

Due to the amount of variables in a secure data exchange project - type of data, velocity of data, time period and coverage of data, as well as the proposed application of the exchange insights - Data Republic does not have a fixed pricing model.
Where possible, we work with our Data Contributors and Partners to define and set fixed price parameters on specific applications (example ‘Measuring Market Share’ for retail outlet). Projects with Data Republic generally commence from around $10,000 Australian dollars.
When you are completing your Data Request Form, you will be asked to disclose the financial terms you have in place with any intended recipients of your analysis. How you intend to monetize your analysis of their data in conjunction with how much you are offering to pay for the data itself are key considerations for many data contributors, and a failure to properly disclose your commercial interests in the contributor data would be a violation of the Data Republic Participation Agreement.
If you are building an analysis using a matched dataset, in order to properly assess what the data you're requesting is worth, you should consider the following aspects of your project:
  • The industry of the end recipient of your analysis. The amount of value that different industries will associate with the same dataset varies based on the financial return each industry can expect from your insights. For example, if your insights delivery a list of suburb residents likely to move within the next 3 months, that list would be much more valuable to a mortgage broker than it would be to a moving company.
  • The end use for your insights. As with different industries, different uses of your insights will imply different values for the underlying datasets. If your insights are used to help a shopping center prioritize their promotional displays based on their customers potential for travel, that would have a much lower return on investment for them than the same shopping center using your insights to directly promote the travel insurance sold by one of their retailers via email or phone campaigns.
While there isn't an industry standard price for an individuals data, many public company valuations would set $8 per individual as a benchmark that you could use in your evaluation.
